My bull mastiff coughs when he gets excited?

I Noticed It One Morning, As Usual I Let My Dogs Upstairs To My Bedroom, Where They Get Excited To See Us Like. But One Of My Dogs Started Coughing/Choking? He has a ear infection which we are taking him to the vet to get it sorted, Is this a symptom or a different matter? any help.
