ADDING LYRICS TO A BEAT (HELP) ! ! ! ? ? ?

My Bro's birthday is on Saturday and I'm kinda broke and don't no what to get him so I thought I'll make him something from the heart. "I'm going to make him a Rap"! I wrote really good lyrics... I hope haha BUT I always struggle adding them to the beat, I usually cut up my recorded sound into fragments on Sony Vegas Pro 9 and put it together but sounds so cheesy and fake.
